Updates on Schedule

Hello All,

We have a month worth of practices until our performance on 12/18/09 and things are coming along nicely. Most of the kids have been able to learn their lines and lyrics and we've already begun the process of doing full run-throughs. Running through the entire play allows kids to get a better sense of the flow and connecting storyline. This is important for team building and gives many chances to begin learning stage directions. If your child is still having difficulty with lines or lyrics, please check in with Cat, we can try to tweak things a little.

We've heard concerns from several parents worrying about kids being sick at performance. As coaches, we share the same concern. If kids miss several practices due to illness, this makes it difficult for the child missing practice as well as everyone needing to practice with that child. Illness at performance is also a concern. For now, we will plan for success, which means working hard towards choreography, staging, costume, props, and performance on 12/18. If we continue to be "plagued" (pun intended:) by illness and feel that moving forward with a performance on 12/18 just is not feasible by the Saturday practice on 12/12, we'll let parents know by the end of practice. We will need to make some tough choices if performance is not able to proceed as planned. We'll seek some input from families on these choices with the goal of still performing at some point in the future without impacting the upper unit session beginning in January.
