Grease
The upper unit is getting ready to start work on their production of the school version of Grease. Practices are Mondays after school until 5 p.m. To participate requires a form be filled out in advance letting us know each child's interest, pickup, and emergency information. These forms are also available on the desk near the front office. A bus note for a student on Monday morning before practice is not sufficient notice to plan for. After vacation we plan to meet and learn a few dances, songs and lines to be used for auditions. Auditions will be held on March 17th and roles assigned by March 24th. Our performance of Grease is tentatively scheduled for Friday, June 6th.

Dates to remember: Monday 3/10 - practice and handing out of materials for auditions. Each child will need to perform (either in group or solo, depending on interest) the song Summer Nights, dance a portion of the ChaCha, and read a pre-selected portion of the play.

Monday 3/17 - Auditions. Plan to come right after school and we expect to finish by 5:00 p.m. Children should not leave however until they have auditioned. We will be rating students on specific items in each category so be prepared. Our expectations will include: expression, movement, projection, timing, and preparedness.

Monday 3/24 - Posting of Roles. Difficult as it will be, we will have to make decisions placing individual students into roles. The emphasis will be on learning skills and working together as a team. We will choose roles with greater responsibility based on confidence, willingness to take risks, preparedness, and abilities. Priority will be given to 6th graders (that way all will eventually get a turn), and past membership in drama club (last year and/or mentoring of younger students this year).
